If you’ve carefully followed the instructions above and you’re sure the selection, window or screen that you targeted for screenshot contained graphical elements but these now aren’t showing up in the image captured, the chances are that the software you were using has chosen specifically to block screenshotting functions. Once the file is saved, simply double-click on the file to open it in the default program of your choice, and select File, Print… The screenshot application guarantees “What you see is what you get”. However, where most people have trouble is when they're trying to save the screenshot, paste it into an email or another program, or crop out parts of the screenshot.

Again it is stand alone & can simply be deleted if you don’t like it, no uninstalling required. If you want to be more artful about the way you print the image – arranging it neatly within white space, including other images on the same printout and so on – you can drag the image on to Photoshop or open it in an Adobe InDesign document. Thanks for all the source code and comments – thanks to that, I finally have an app that I wanted 🙂 I have compiled some of the examples, and both sources and executables can be found here: I use InterceptCaptureScreen.Exe – simply run it in a command prompt terminal, and then press Insert when you want to capture a screenshot (timestamped filenames, png, in the same directory where the executable is); keys will be captured even if the terminal is not in focus. (I use Insert key, since it should have an easier time propagating through, say, VNC than PrintScreen – which on my laptop requires that also Fn key is pressed, and that does not propagate through VNC.
